We got very excited over the Olympus -P1 Micro Four Thirds camera over at Retro To Go, but the Panasonic Lumix GF1 Micro Four Thirds camera just might match it.

Micro Four Thirds is a new camera technology that offers DSLR-like imagery and features, but from more simplified inner workings, which means the cameras can be smaller and more stylish than a DSLR. The GF1 is very similar to the E-P1, right down to the same 12.1-megapixel sensor and 720p HD video recording. But as a plus, the GF1 packs a smart built-in flash unit, a high-resolution 3-inch LCD screen and a choice of interchangeable lenses.

It should be available in the UK from early October, probably for around the same price as the Olympus, which is from around the £700 mark.

Olympus has released their latest digital SLR, the E-620. The new E-620 looks to join an already crowded field of not quite entry level digital SLRs.

The E620 features a generous 12.3 megapixel image sensor and in-body image stabilization. The most distinctive feature is the flip-out, rotating 2.7 inch LCD screen. This allows the user to angle the screen to suit just about any condition.

The E-620 doesn’t exactly break new ground in terms of innovation, but the price is right. You do get a nice feature set for $700, or if you want it with the 14-42mm lens, the price goes up to $800. The camera is expected to ship in May.
