Nokia, AT&T, Best Buy and Microsoft are all holding hands and singing the same song about Nokia’s Booklet 3G today. The good news is that the device will be subsidized by AT&T, at $299 with a 2-year contract at a $60 a month data plan — with other rate plans and prices to be announced — and a $599 non-subsidized price.

It’ll be out with the launch of Windows 7 on October 22nd and available exclusively through Best Buy through the holidays. Nokia’s also pretty strong about stating that 12 hour battery life isn’t a “brochure number” but a real number — though we doubt that since Nokia is using Mobile Mark ’07 which doesn’t include wireless in its base tests.

Think what you will, but we’re big believers in “keeping it real” ’round these parts. While we swoon whenever a new smart phone hits the scene, the vast majority are still stuck in the flip phone zone – and you know what? There’s nothing wrong with that. Have no fear, flip fans, Verizon is here to fulfill all your flipping needs with the new Nokia 2705 Shade.

Being marketed as a “light-weight, compact and colorful” flip phone, the Nokia Shade will initially only be available online and will come in two tasty flavors: “normal” – one with a camera (more below)*, and “secret agent” – a model without a camera, for all of you who can’t carry camera-equipped devices into your info-sensitive work places (we presume).

In regards to the “colorful” aspect of the device (don’t mind the black press shot of the phone above), Nokia is keeping with the old-school theme (think early 2000s) and will be offering interchangeable “Xpress-on” covers in blue, red, and purple for $19.99. Considering the Nokia Shade with camera, itself, will cost just $29.99 (with a new two-year customer agreement), spending almost $20 a pop per color cover (66% of the total price of the handset, for crying out loud) is pretty comical. The new flipper will be available online beginning Oct. 6 at verizonwireless.com.

Here are the rest of the juicy details:

Key features:
• Large display on one of the smallest devices available at Verizon Wireless
• VZ NavigatorSM-capable to give customers access to more than 15 million points of interest
• Connect in color with Xpress-on changeable covers (sold separately)

Lifestyle features:
• Stylish and sleek with interchangeable covers for added personalization
• Stores up to 1,000 contacts
• Light-weight and easily fits into a pocket or purse
• Text, picture and voice messaging capabilities
• Up to 300 minutes of usage time or up to 360 hours of standby time
• 1.3 megapixel camera
• Bluetooth® compatible with support for the following Bluetooth profiles: headset, hands-free, phonebook access, basic printing, and object push (for vCard and vCalendar)
• Micro USB 2.0 compatible
• Access to Mobile Web

Domestic Violence Awareness Month*

Because purple is the awareness color for domestic violence, those who purchase the Nokia Shade with a camera online during Domestic Violence Awareness Month will receive a free picture frame phone lanyard and a purple Nokia Xpress-on Cover while supplies last. Additionally, the Nokia Shade features pre-loaded wallpapers that highlight HopeLine®, Verizon Wireless’ phone recycling and reuse program, and it is the first Verizon Wireless phone to have #HOPE pre-programmed into the contact list. When customers dial #HOPE, they are connected to the National Domestic Violence Hotline, where they can receive information or help with domestic violence situations or questions. To learn more about Verizon Wireless’ efforts around Domestic Violence Awareness Month, visit www.verizonwireless.com/HopeLineDVAM.

So the Finns are at it again. There was a time when a Nokia phone was branded with a “7? isolating it as an experiment for the market. Later on, the “7? became a fashion line. With the release of the 7705, it is a little of both. The nokia 7705 is a messaging phone: threaded SMS, instant messaging, chat, huge QWERTY keypad and a big light on the bottom right allows you to do color coding for your contacts. The phone also comes with a 3.0MP camera.

I first read on Nokia Mobile Talk (thanks Jorge) and then on the Guardian that Nokia will be announcing an Android-based device at Nokia World in September. The Guardian states their sources as “industry insiders” so I am not sure what that means and I have not seen or heard anything official from Nokia yet. Let’s chalk this up as a rumor for now, but an interesting one at that.

As Jorge listed on Nokia Mobile Talk a Nokia Android device could have some very compelling specs and given the reputation of Nokia phones in regards to phone calls, media capture, and battery life I would be first in line to buy a Nokia Android unit. While an ASeries would be slick I think the more likely candidate for a Nokia Android device is a Nokia Android Internet Tablet.

Android running on the N810 would be a great fit and some have already hacked their N810 to run the Android OS, with mixed results. I enjoy using my T-Mobile G1 and find the Google Android OS to be quite powerful and enjoyable.

If you had any doubt about the reach of Nokia, the world’s leading mobile handset maker, then check this: Nokia just announced the simultaneous June launch of its flagship N97 in more than 75 countries.

We already had hints of this for the US and Western Europe but it’s good to have it official. And with N97 chatter on the uptick recently, we’re expecting to see this 3.5-inch QWERTY touchscreen slider running S60 5th sooner rather than later.

Update: Available June 19th for £500 sim-free in the UK or June 26th if you want it bundled with a contract. Anyone else seeing local launch dates?

Currenly, rumors for all over the net that nokia has a plan to lauch thier newest high end phone, Well, according to the latest rumours circulating the internet now, Finnish mobile phone maker is planning to launch several new full-touch screen handsets that will be equipped with capacitive screens instead of the resistive screens that have been used in the company’s first mass market touchscreen device Nokia 5800 XM, as well as in their forthcoming flagship touch device, Nokia N97.

DigiTimes also reports that Nokia has decided to adopt Synaptics’ touchscreen IC solution for its upcoming high-end handset and smartphone to be launched in the third quarter, and it does not rule out the possibility of offering multi-touch functions, according to sources at Taiwan IC designers.

Sure, there are lots of big players in multi-touch patent game but apparently Nokia isn’t worried about infringing anyone else’s technology as they are working on its own sort of multi-touch user interface that I wrote about couple of months ago?

The only question I have is if the Apple’s patents are strong enough to absolutely stop others from using similar technology or maybe there is a hole that allows other to start using the multi-touch way of controlling the user interface!?

TPO Displays has reportedly received 3.5-inch TFT-LCD panel orders for Nokia’s N97 handset, while Wintek has received capacitive touch panel orders from the vendor, according to market sources. Wintek, which supplies resistive touch panels for Nokia’s 5800, will provide capacitive touch panels for another Nokia handset, the sources noted

Nokia and Verizon Wireless has started to roll out the Nokia 7205 Intrigue handset. Nokia describes the handset as “sophisticated” with its black black exterior and a Hidden-until-lit” external display, an internal color keypad, and support for many multimedia and music features.

Nokia 7205

Its external display blends with the black exterior, and illuminates when you receive a text message or a call. The external display can also be used to view messages, play songs from Verizon’s V CAST service, or to snooze an alarm.

The handset comes with a “gradient color keypad”, either in “in silver-fade” or “pink-fade” finish “with a different directional key for each finish”.

The big and bright screen has a so-called “nature-inspired design setting” called Habitat Mode.

Other features:

* One-touch dedicated camera/video button
* 2.0 megapixel camera with flash
* Ability to upload photos to customers’ favorite social networking sites
* Bluetooth profiles supported: Headset, HFP, DUN, Stereo, PBAP, BPP, OPP
* Expandable to 8GB via microSD

By the way, the Nokia 7205 Intrigue is also said to be good for the environment: with a built-in reminder to alert customers to unplug the charger when phone is fully-charged and ships a low no-load charger. Packanging is made from 100 percent recyclable materials.

The Nokia 7205 Intrigue is priced at $129.99 after a $50.00 mail-in rebate with a new two-year Verizon contract.
