New York – Skype, the Internet telephone service unit of eBay (NASD: EBAY), plans to launch an application that make its service available to users of Apple’s (NASD: AAPL) iPhone tomorrow at a mobile industry trade show, and another in May that will enable its service for RIM’s (NASD: RIMM) BlackBerry, Reuters reported. “The No. 1 request we get from customers is to make Skype available on iPhone. There’s a pent-up demand,” Skype COO Scott Durchslag told Reuters.

The company already offers mobile applications for Google’s (NASD: GOOG) Android mobile operating system, Nokia (NYSE: NOK) handsets and Microsoft’s (NASD: MSFT) Windows Mobile platforms.

It’s not like there aren’t a huge number of possible models of Bluetooth headsets to use with your iPhone, or any phone, but it’s interesting that Apple has apparently discontinued the iPhone Bluetooth headset it introduced with the original iPhone, as noted at their store (above).

Apple held one of their super-secret, invite-only events at Cupertino yesterday to unveil the new iPhone 3.0 OS to the media. The update will have all kinds of long-awaited and cool pieces to it including cut, copy & paste and updated turn-by turn map features. But the interesting stuff for the GamingNexus faithful involves how it will impact gaming for both the touch and iPhone. There were three major announcements in this regard, with two of them related. The first was that microtransactions are coming and the other two are that the iPod Touch will get Bluetooth support and that with this will come peer-to-peer play.

Geeks Gadget: Apple Best Selling quarter

Currently, apple announce the percentage of selling in ipod and iphone in quarterly with revenues of $10.17 billion, profits of $1.61bn ($1.78 per diluted share). If you stripped out the GAAP accounting method it uses for iPhone revenue – under which revenues from an iPhone are counted over 8 quarters, rather than at once – then the figures are $11.8bn revenue, $2.3bn profit.

And it looks like this quarter is the best sell for this year. Seems like everyone was either buying iPhones to tell each other and surf the web, or iPods to drown out the bad news.

Currently, The Newber application adds a second business line to your iPhone that enables you to redirect incoming calls to any phone using built-in GPS technology. Mobile applications seem to be a bit of a theme this year and Newber is joining the fray with the launch of it’s location aware business number service. Simply key in a landline phone number at your location, then toggle between taking your business calls on that phone or your iPhone.

Geek Gadgets: 300 million iPhone mobile apps

A few of people have questioned whether Apple differentiates between free and paid apps when announcing these types of numbers.

Earlier this year, AT&T was offering up free WiFi at Starbucks to iPhone users. Great deal and all, but AT&T eventually reneged on the deal and everyone cried foul. AT&T has decided to give it another go, offering free WiFi at AT&T hotspots to iPhone users.

This includes Starbucks and if you were planning on spoofing Firefox to pretend it’s an iPhone (for some free WiFi), it’s not going to work this time.

Geek Gadgets : Iphone in Beta Installer

If your iPhone or iPhone 3G is jailbroken, you’ve more likely than not heard of the Installer app. But it looks like Installer 4 BETA has hit the web–albeit, a bit early according to developers. considering that is a BETA version of the app, there are more problems than normal, such as crashes and various bugs.

However, the developers are confident none of these bugs will brick your iPhone, so just proceed with caution.
