Ah, the future. Full of uncertainties and possibilities, yet one constant remains: the Vostro 430. Designed from the ground up to withstand global upheavals like Windows 7, this humble little box is fully configurable with your choice of Core i5 or Core i7 processors and ATI or NVIDIA discrete graphics, along with up to 16GB of RAM,

1TB of storage, an optional Blu-ray drive, a 19-in-1 memory card reader, a couple of PS/2 and serial ports to support your older devices and, of course, plenty of room for further expansion (including no less than 10 USB ports). Best of all, it boasts a starting price of just $699, with some fairly high-end options still well within reach under the $1,000 mark.

The Dell Adamo 13 laptop looks to be a real stylish laptop but considering the X4500 graphics, 1.2GHz Core 2 Duo processor, and 2GB RAM for the price of $1999 makes it somewhat underwhelming to say the least, and the reported configuration of the higher end $2700 Dell Adamo doesn’t appear to blow the mind either.

Apparently Dell Australia has the Dell Adamo listed with sporting a 1.4GHz ULV Core 2 Duo processor along with 4GB of RAM and a built in 3G card.

To be honest the $2700 asking price is a lot to shell out for integrated graphics in a machine that weighs 4 pounds, so maybe it’s worth giving a miss, even if it does sport Dell’s new artsy image.

Don’t get a Mini 10! Dell’s new netbook will not permit upgrading of the 1GB of RAM it comes with, unlike practically every other model on the market, including its popular Mini 9. Windows XP can’t be bundled with machines containing more than 1GB of RAM, as per Microsoft’s licensing rules. Netbooks typically come with XP, as it is leaner and faster than Vista.

With other models, however, the manual upgrade–which makes netbooks much better when running multiple programs or memory intensive ones like Photoshop–is cheap and easy. Not any more: Dell Chief Blogger Lionel Menchaca writes that “Initially, all Mini 10s will come with 1GB fixed RAM (which means it will not be upgradable)

Dell has unwrapped Latitude XT2 that touts to be the industry’s first multi-touch enabled tablet PC. The 12.1-inch capacitive touchscreen takes multi-touch commands from fingers as well as included EM Digitizer pen. The base configuration starts from $2,399 and makes the tablet look underpowered because of Windows Vista being run on a 1.2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and 1GB RAM.

The stock config also consists of 8X DVD burner, 80GB HDD, Wi-Fi, onboard Intel graphics and 4-cell battery. Escalating further will give options of a 1.4GHz processor, 64GB SSD, up to 5GB DDR3 RAM, 24X DVD burner, 802.11b/g/n, 6-cell battery and different security tools.
