Whilst we tend not to get too overexcited about iPod FM transmitters, Griffin’s up and coming iTrip AutoPilot FM transmitter – the latest product in their iTrip range – certainly looks to be worth consideration if you’re looking for a such a device (which allows you to broadcast music wirelessly to your car’s stereo system) and this is especially the case if you own an iPhone which is fully supported by the device.

Griffin’s iTrip AutoPilot FM transmitter sports SmartScan technology, ensuring that the device picks the best frequencies to transmit to – a total of three separate frequencies automatically being saved as presets facilitating easy recall – as well as SmartSound which promises to deliver optimum sound clarity, and the device is also capable of transmitting song information to RDS capable stereos allowing for song titles to be displayed (the ’s integral high-contrast display serving to convey the frequency currently selected).

Unlike many comparable devices, Griffin’s iTrip AutoPilot FM transmitter also comes complete with a set of playback controls allowing you control your iPod/iPhone which can be safely stored in, say, your car’s glove box, and even comes with integrated charger that plus directly into your car’s cigarette lighter to ensure that, once at your destination, your device is fully topped up with the required juice.

Griffin’s iTrip AutoPilot iPod/iPhone FM transmitter is due to retail for just shy of $100 though there’s no confirmation of a release date at the time of writing (the product page, somewhat unhelpfully, merely states that the device is ‘coming soon’).
