Android has not only arrived, it is set to explode according to a new report. Global shipments of Android smartphones are set to grow by 900% by the end of the year, according to Strategy Analytics.
Android hit the ground running last year with the launch of the G1 (aka the HTC Dream). With more Android handsets being announced on a seemingly daily basis, it is no surprise that business analysts Strategy Analytics think the Android OS is about to see enormous growth, the like of which is rarely seen outside viagra advertising.

The Turbo Drive technology found in MSI’s GX733 laptops has filtered its way down to two more models, the GX623 and GX633. These are smaller midrange laptops with 15.4-inch screens with either Intel (GX623) or AMD (GX633) dual core processors inside. Additional specs after the jump.
The GX623 Intel models come with an ATI Radeon HD4670 graphics processor, while the GX633 AMD models come with NVIDIA GeForce GT 130M graphics. That’s where the differences end.

Although I have read a negative comment or two on the blogs by folks who are convinced that bigger is always better and that a PC should be as powerful as possible in every occasion, the majority opinion regarding Acer’s upcoming Ion-based Nettop PC, the Hornet is generally pretty good.
Planned in four separate varieties, estimated to possibly range from $150-300+, the Hornet will support 1080p video playback over HDMI and its ‘Media Center’ version will reportedly come with a Wii-like remote that can be used for gaming, or as pointing device supplementing a wireless keyboard and mouse.

Currently, Sony freshened up their HD camcorder line yesterday by introducing the HDR-TG5V Handycam. The pistol grip camcorder shoots 1080 high def video and 4MP stills, all the while capturing your media’s location via a built-in GPS antenna and NAVTEQ digital maps. I’ve read a few blog posts (namely this one) stating that syncing the GPS data with video is a nightmare of a situation and it seems that Sony has no plans of alleviating this quandary with proprietary software.

1004DN is the first Eee to offer an integrated CD/DVD burner
The computer industry is hurting for sure, but one of the few bright spots in the poor economy has been and continues to be netbooks. The netbook category continues to grow as consumers look to the low cost machines for portability and the price.
One of the biggest problems for many that use a netbook is that they lack an optical drive. This is a problem for those who want to use a netbook as their primary computer. ASUS has a plethora of Eee models that cover a wide range of offerings, colors, and uses.

Today we saw the introduction of two new netbooks to the Samsung line. Samsung entered the netbook market in October of 2008 with the respectable NC10 [Portal page] which had a solid economy design, and impressed people with its battery life. Now Samsung updates the NC10 to the the N110, and introduces the NC310. Laptopmag.com already got their hands on the N110 and gives us a nice review (linked below).

Acer is reportedly on the verge of releasing a brand new Aspire One that will feature a larger 11.6-inch panel (notably bigger than the 10.1-inch versions available today), and will go down in history for dancing on the line between netbook and notebook.
This new Aspire one will come with a 1366×768 16:9 screen, an Intel Atom Z530 processor and the Poulsbo chipset, along with GMA500 graphics. There’s even supposed to be an extended battery option that will allow up to eight hours of battery life.
No word yet on pricing or availability, but once we know, you will too!

The Dell Adamo 13 laptop looks to be a real stylish laptop but considering the X4500 graphics, 1.2GHz Core 2 Duo processor, and 2GB RAM for the price of $1999 makes it somewhat underwhelming to say the least, and the reported configuration of the higher end $2700 Dell Adamo doesn’t appear to blow the mind either.
Apparently Dell Australia has the Dell Adamo listed with sporting a 1.4GHz ULV Core 2 Duo processor along with 4GB of RAM and a built in 3G card.
