T-Mobile USA is expected to announce details around a new phone powered by Google’s Android operating system next week, say people familiar with the matter. The new Android-based phone is slated to be called myTouch 3G, those people say. Like its predecessor, known as the G1, the follow-on device uses Android and is made by HTC. It is expected to go on sale in the U.S. this summer, making it the second Android-based phone to hit the market from a major carrier in the U.S. Google executives have said that more such phones are on the way, forecasting that at least 18 Android phones from a variety of manufacturers will hit the market this year. T-Mobile has talked about plans to offer a second Android device for a while and a spokesman for the wireless carrier said Tuesday that it would have more details to share soon. A Google spokeswoman declined to comment, except to say the company was “pleased to see more Android-powered devices coming to market.”

Currently a tipster has sent engadget an image of the unannounced Sony Ericsson XPERIA X2 (codename Vulcan) mobile phone, replacing the XPERIA X1. As you can see, the X2 will have a large display, a front camera and QWERTY keyboard. It’s likely the phone will run Windows Mobile 6.5.
A tipster tells that the device you’re looking at here is Sony Ericsson’s codename “Vulcan” — better known as the X2 — which would presumably replace the X1 at some point in the next few days, weeks, months, or years.

Spotify, the streaming music service which is gradually gathering a large fan-base in Europe, has been plotting a mobile version. It recently hired a head of mobile and the speculation was that it would come out with an iPhone app first after releasing a teaser video. But today it’s released video of an Android app it’s being demoing to people at Google I/O.
The Android app is still very much a work in progress and subject to minor changes, but it gives a pretty good overview of their thinking. The demo highlights a number of features including playback, playlists, offline synch and music search.

T-Mobile Austria have added a placeholder for the “iPhone 32GB”, seemingly a version of the Apple smartphone with twice the storage of the current top-end model.
The handset appears under the carrier’s “Coming soon” section, though without any image, detail of pricing or specific launch date. Clicking on the “Details” button leads to a page with no information about the handset.
A new iPhone announcement has been tipped to take place on June 8th, at the WWDC 2009 keynote in San Francisco. Among the expected changes are more storage capacity, as hinted at by this listing,
