Recently, Oracle gobbled up Sun Microsystems for $7.4 billion Monday, boldly swooping in to take advantage after IBM dropped its bid to buy one of high-tech’s best-known — and most-troubled — companies.
The startling deal, Oracle’s first hardware acquisition, steps up Oracle’s bid to become a one-stop technology shop for more than 300,000 corporate, government and academic customers. It also effectively ends Sun’s 27-year history as Silicon Valley’s maverick independent.

T-Mobile is reportedly readying a new crop of devices based on Google’s Android operating system. According to a New York Times report citing confidential documents, the company is planning a home telephone device and tablet PC device which will utilize versions of Android.

Microsoft has taken some hits lately given the recent announcements regarding the upcoming Windows Mobile 6.5 and the Marketplace. The word that developers who submit apps to the Marketplace would have to pay for all updates to those apps grabbed just about everyone the wrong way.
Microsoft has been listening to the feedback and have backed off of that requirement and have shared some new information with us about the direction of Windows Mobile.

The new Samsung SCH-W740 is a 8-megapixel camera phone with a 3.3-inch touchscreen, HSUPA HSPA-based 3G up to 5.7Mbps , Bluetooth 2.0,microSDHC card, an e-dictionary, T-DMB TV tuner and loads of haptic feedback.
The camera features face detection, scene modes, a Xenon flash and a smile shutter for good measure. The phone is also called Haptic 8M.The phone’s name comes both through the haptic (vibration) feedback on its very high-resolution, 480×800 3.3-inch display but also an 8-megapixel camera that can tag and recognize faces in photos. It also carries flash, detects smiles and scans business cards.

The brand new and game changing OnLive service was announced at the Game Developers Conference yesterday. OnLive is a gaming service that plans to provide gamers who have entry level home computers with access to games they would never be able to run on those machines.
This is accomplished through cloud computing; where the heavy, hardware intensive processing needed for high-end gaming is done on central OnLive servers which then essentially stream the gameplay footage to users. Learn more about OnLive after the jump.

The Dell Adamo 13 laptop looks to be a real stylish laptop but considering the X4500 graphics, 1.2GHz Core 2 Duo processor, and 2GB RAM for the price of $1999 makes it somewhat underwhelming to say the least, and the reported configuration of the higher end $2700 Dell Adamo doesn’t appear to blow the mind either.
Apparently Dell Australia has the Dell Adamo listed with sporting a 1.4GHz ULV Core 2 Duo processor along with 4GB of RAM and a built in 3G card.

Currently, most books are still printed in black and white, there may be some question as to the value of a color eReader but this jump in technology may be the stepping stone that will push for new innovations on the part of ebook authors and publishers.
The FLEPia will retail in Japan on April 20th and includes an 8-inch XGA touchscreen that supports 260,000 colors, 4 GB SD card that can store 5000 ebooks, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, WiFi and a USB port for data transfer. Fujitsu guarantees that the battery lifespan on the new eReader will be about 40 hours.

A student at Yale University has filed a lawsuit against U.S. Airways demanding $1 million in compensation for his lost Xbox 360 console.
According to the filing, Jesse Maiman took a flight last December from New Haven, Connecticut to Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport and upon arriving at his destination, proceeded to retrieve his luggage.

Apple introduced a new 4GB iPod Shuffle that has a new feature called VoiceOver provides song and playlist information at the press of a button. It will be a super-slim, 4GB iPod shuffle that holds up to 1,000 songs and includes a speech function that will read your song choices aloud.
The new players will reportedly carry model numbers MC164 in black color and MB867 in silver includes a stainless steel clip and also pack a new “dock/sync cable.” Moreover, Apple has offered 14 languages for VoiceOver, including French, Turkish, Swedish, Greek, Mandarin and French.

Currently, Apple’s AirPort Extreme is in its sixth revision with the same name, by my count, and its third featuring 802.11n. The latest release moves from either 2.4 or 5 GHz 802.11n networking to supporting both bands at the same time. This is a hardware update, requiring a new unit, as Apple added a radio to the mix.
