Sprint has announced today that the Palm Pre will be available on June 6. Sprint announced that it will be available nationwide in Sprint stores, as well as at Best Buy, Radio Shack, and select Wal-Mart stores. The webOS-based phone will retail for $199.99 (after rebate and service agreement).

Why is Apple up in arms over BitTorrent? Okay, perhaps officially they are not, but to sit there and say that nothing legitimate comes in over BitTorrent is absurd. And to make matters even weirder, the Apple App Store for the iPhone did allow the app known as Trackr, to pass.

One can speculate that this might be due to the emphasis on RSS with BitTorrent as a close second within the app itself. But one thing needs to be pointed out early on here. None of these applications even download content over BitTorrent specifically. Rather, they only allow for the user to control a set Torrent

Geeks Gadgets: The kindle Textbook

The University will begin offering Kindle editions of its textbooks starting in the fall semester, several media outlets are reporting. An official announcement is expected Wednesday morning in New York.

Amazon.com, creator of The Kindle and run by Jeff Bezos ’86, is expected to announce a new version of its device with a larger screen and other features specifically geared toward academic textbooks as well as newspapers and magazines.

Currently, Sony Computer Entertainment America’s senior VP of marketing, Peter Dille, has admitted that the PlayStation Portable has been hit hard by piracy – with as many as 50 million units in the marketplace potentially having been compromised.

“I’m convinced and we’re convinced that piracy has taken out a big chunk of our software sales on PSP,” Dille told Gamasutra. “It’s been a problem that the industry has to address together; it’s one that I think the industry takes very seriously, but we need to do something to address this because it’s criminal what’s going on, quite frankly.
