In a move that will surely send alarm bells ringing in Microsoft headquarters, Hewlett Packard, the world’s leading PC manufacturer, has announced that they are considering replacing Windows with Google’s Android operating system in some of their upcoming netbook models.

This potential change in operating systems is likely driven by the slumping economy and PC manufacturers’ desire to make their machines even more affordable. Microsoft charges steep licensing fees for the use of Windows, while Google allows Android to be used free, so this move could save HP millions of dollars and further reduce the price of netbooks.

T-Mobile launches the webConnect USB 3G modem that allows users to connect to T-Mobile’s mobile network anywhere. The webConnect supports HSDPA 1900 / 2100 / AWS and tri-band GSM/EDGE network. It can also conect to WiFi hotspots.

T-Mobile webConnect has a built-in microSDHC card slot. It is priced at $49.99 with a two-year contract or $249.99 without contract.

Geeks Gadget: The First Waterproof Camera

General Imaging issued its first model of digital camera (GE G3WP), which has a fully waterproof casing and can be photographed under water (up to 3 meters) without using additional boxes.

In doing so, the model looks stylish without the elements of the “brutality”, is usually characteristic of such cells.

GE G3WP added a directory of available (for the buyer) cameras in 2009, with “on board” 12.2 MP sensor, a lens with a 4x optical zoom, 2.7-inch LCD display with integrated motion sensor lighting.

I guess this all depends on your definition of “full-sized”, but according to Samsung their N120 netbook will have a keyboard meeting that definition. The device sticks with the relatively standard 10.1-inch display found on many netbooks, but the company says that they keyboard is the same size as a 12.1-inch notebook. Considering that many netbooks offer 93%-95%-sized keyboards, the extra 5%-7% might come in a slightly larger device. I’m thinking the bezel around the screen might be larger than the current Samsung netbooks, but that’s simply a guess.

Geeks Gadget: Dell Adamo is now for $2700

The Dell Adamo 13 laptop looks to be a real stylish laptop but considering the X4500 graphics, 1.2GHz Core 2 Duo processor, and 2GB RAM for the price of $1999 makes it somewhat underwhelming to say the least, and the reported configuration of the higher end $2700 Dell Adamo doesn’t appear to blow the mind either.

Apparently Dell Australia has the Dell Adamo listed with sporting a 1.4GHz ULV Core 2 Duo processor along with 4GB of RAM and a built in 3G card.

The Magic may be on its way, but according to news sources quoting HTC’s CEO Peter Chou, there will be no rest for the Taiwanese company, as they have several further Android handsets expected to be released during the remainder of the year.

Mr Chou was speaking at a technology conference in Taipei and was responding to questions concerning a rumour HTC would be bringing five Android phones on to the market in 2009.

Klipsch introduces the new affordable Image S4 and S2 in-ear headphones. Both S4 and S2 has oval ear tips that naturally fit the contours of your ear canals, unlike most circular-shaped in-ear headphones.

A student at Yale University has filed a lawsuit against U.S. Airways demanding $1 million in compensation for his lost Xbox 360 console.

According to the filing, Jesse Maiman took a flight last December from New Haven, Connecticut to Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport and upon arriving at his destination, proceeded to retrieve his luggage.

It has a 3.2 megapixel camera with video recording and connections to photo sharing services. It works with voice commands, Bluetooth 2.0 and A-GPS. The Nokia 5730 has a WAP and full HTML browser. It has dedicated music keys for music features.

Geeks Gadget: Apple’s New 4GB iPod

Apple introduced a new 4GB iPod Shuffle that has a new feature called VoiceOver provides song and playlist information at the press of a button. It will be a super-slim, 4GB iPod shuffle that holds up to 1,000 songs and includes a speech function that will read your song choices aloud.

The new players will reportedly carry model numbers MC164 in black color and MB867 in silver includes a stainless steel clip and also pack a new “dock/sync cable.” Moreover, Apple has offered 14 languages for VoiceOver, including French, Turkish, Swedish, Greek, Mandarin and French.
