Currently, Verizon Wireless subscribers in the market for a unique phone take note: LG’s latest touchscreen phone, the aptly named Versa, has officially dropped on the former “In Network”. The Versa sports a 3 inch screen boasting an animated 3D interface, a 2 megapixel camera with face detection and a built in image editor, a full HTML Web browser that supports Flash and RSS feeds, GPS, Visual Voice Mail, a built in accelerometer, a microSD card slot, and EV-DO Rev.

Sony has confirmed that it will be shutting down the Go!Messenger service for the PSP on March 31, 2009. Sony launched the VOIP service in February last year, and although it brought “innovative communications features to the PSP,” Sony said the service has not developed the desired user base.
The service was a partnership between Sony and BT, the wireless network company. It allowed users of the service to send video, voice recordings, and text messages, just like a cell phone, using the PSP.

That cheap $99 Roku Netflix box that we love so much is about to get even more versatile. Still shining from a 720p HD upgrade six weeks ago, now the little-box-that-could is about to hook up users with downloads from Amazon Video on Demand (formerly called Amazon Unbox). It’s a private beta test so far, but we’re hoping the new capability will soon be available for all Roku/Netflix users.

After SD announced that TV would send to the market its new 2 card format SDXC of, was to wait for `on the other contrapuntal’ type of dominant memory cards in the market, the Memory Stick. Too much has not been made wait for the answer on the part of Sony and SanDisk, the main manufacturers of Memory Stick. The answer has taken place in this ESC 2009 and has been a Memory Stick PRO with a capacity of 2 storage of TV with a format still to determine although certainly it has something of “You extend High Capacity” in the name. In any case, and as with the SDXC, we will have to hope for being able to acquire them, since its production will not begin until “some moment of this year”.

Recently, According to a great source of Geeksgadget, Palm will launch its next smartphone this coming Thursday (the official launch of CES). The rumored phone will run a Nova OS (whatever that is), include a slide down QWERTY keyboard and of course sport a touchscreen with iPhone like qualities.
We have information from a trusted source that the latest Palm smartphone running the Nova operating system will be launched Thursday. The new phone will have a full QWERTY keyboard that will slide down under a portrait-oriented touchscreen. We’ll have a mock-up shortly.

A few of people have questioned whether Apple differentiates between free and paid apps when announcing these types of numbers.
While it is important that developers (and businesses) get a good idea of what price-points are selling, I personally think that numbers such as what Apple announced today are important for different reasons.
