After trotting out a mess of new information about PlayStation Home earlier today in Germany, SCEE prez Andrew House announced Sony’s upcoming digital comics initiative on the PSP, the Digital Reader. According to House, Sony has worked out plans with Marvel to launch with “hundreds available, including the Marvel Comics stable.”

Additionally, the service will give PSP-owning comic fans access to Archie and Image comics. Unfortunately, he didn’t specify if the service will be a free firmware upgrade to the existing PSP software or pricing for the comics themselves.

Geeks Gadget: Sony Pulls Plug On PSP

Sony has confirmed that it will be shutting down the Go!Messenger service for the PSP on March 31, 2009. Sony launched the VOIP service in February last year, and although it brought “innovative communications features to the PSP,” Sony said the service has not developed the desired user base.

The service was a partnership between Sony and BT, the wireless network company. It allowed users of the service to send video, voice recordings, and text messages, just like a cell phone, using the PSP.
